Alight Thailand

Alight Thailand

Alight, formerly known as the American Refugee Committee, is a humanitarian organization dedicated to serving and co-creating with people who have been displaced by conflict and natural disaster. The organization’s approach is centered on “human-centered design,” which involves working directly with communities to develop and implement solutions that are both meaningful and sustainable. Alight believes in moving beyond basic aid to help people rebuild full and fulfilling lives with dignity, purpose, and joy.

Key aspects of Alight’s work include:

  • Humanitarian Assistance: Providing critical services like healthcare, clean water, sanitation, and shelter in emergency situations and protracted crises.
  • Economic Opportunity: Offering skills training, microfinance, and other programs to help individuals and communities rebuild their livelihoods and achieve self-sufficiency.
  • Protection and Resilience: Working to protect vulnerable populations, especially women and children, from harm and violence, while also building community resilience to future shocks.
  • Innovative Partnerships: Alight is a global federation that collaborates with local organizations, social enterprises, and individuals to create and scale solutions that are tailored to the specific needs and desires of the people they serve.

With a presence in multiple countries across Africa, Asia, and the Americas, Alight focuses on empowering individuals to not just survive, but to thrive. Its name change from the American Refugee Committee reflects a broader commitment to serving all displaced people and a deliberate decision to move away from a label that often defines individuals by a single, difficult moment in their lives.
