Alliance Anti Trafic Thailand

Alliance Anti Trafic (AAT) is a non-profit, non-partisan, and non-religious organization dedicated to combating sexual exploitation and human trafficking of women and girls in Southeast Asia. Operating as a grassroots organization, AAT focuses on a regional approach, primarily in Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar, and also assists Thai, Lao, and Burmese victims trafficked abroad.
The organization’s work spans the entire process of addressing human trafficking, from prevention to reintegration. Their key services and programs include:
- Prevention and Empowerment: AAT runs educational programs in communities and schools to raise awareness about the risks of sexual exploitation and trafficking, including online forms, forced marriage, and illegal surrogacy. They also empower at-risk women and former victims through skill-building and leadership training, enabling them to become “agents of change” who protect their peers.
- Protection: The organization’s team of activists and social workers intervenes in complex situations to rescue victims from exploitation and provides them with access to safe shelters and care. They focus on the most severe cases where victims have limited access to other protective services.
- Assistance and Repatriation: AAT provides legal and social assistance to victims, ensuring their rights are protected. They facilitate safe repatriation for victims back to their home communities, working with partner organizations across various countries.
- Rehabilitation and Reintegration: AAT supports victims in their reintegration into society by providing career alternatives and economic opportunities. Their empowerment model aims to help beneficiaries achieve economic independence and contribute positively to their communities.
- Advocacy: AAT works with government ministries and partners to advocate for policy changes and the development of sustainable systems and legislation to combat human trafficking and protect victims.
Founded as its own entity in 2007, AAT was co-founded by Jurgen Thomas, who serves as the Executive Director of the Thai office. The organization is a recognized partner in the anti-trafficking community in Thailand and is known for its peer-led approach, where former victims and individuals with lived experience contribute to the organization’s work.
