Plan International Thailand

Plan International Thailand

Plan International is a global development and humanitarian organization that advocates for children’s rights and equality for girls. Founded in 1937, the organization works in over 80 countries across Africa, the Americas, and Asia, striving to create a just world where all children can reach their full potential.

Mission and Core Focus

Plan International’s work is guided by the belief that gender equality is fundamental to the realization of human rights and the eradication of poverty. The organization’s key strategic focus is on empowering girls to overcome the systemic and circumstantial barriers that prevent them from succeeding. By addressing the root causes of inequality, they work to ensure that all children, particularly girls, are safe, educated, and empowered to shape their own futures.

Key Programs and Impact

Plan International’s programs are designed to create lasting, positive change in communities. Their work is centered on several key areas of impact:

  • Education: Promoting free, equal access to quality education for all children, with a special emphasis on keeping girls in school.
  • Protection from Violence: Working with communities and governments to protect children from harm, including child, early, and forced marriage, female genital mutilation, and other forms of gender-based violence.
  • Youth Empowerment: Supporting young people to understand and defend their rights, and providing them with the skills and confidence to be leaders and agents of change in their communities.Humanitarian Response: Providing immediate, life-saving assistance and protection to children and their communities before, during, and after natural disasters and conflicts, while also building resilience.
  • Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Increasing access to quality sexual health services and eliminating harmful practices that affect the health and well-being of young people.

In all its work, Plan International employs a “GirlEngage” approach, which places girls as active participants and co-designers of projects, ensuring that programs are relevant, impactful, and driven by the people they are intended to serve.

Accountability and Partnerships

Plan International is committed to transparency and accountability to its supporters and the communities it serves. The organization is a signatory to international standards and quality assurance mechanisms and works with a diverse network of partners, including civil society organizations, governments, academic institutions, and corporations. By collaborating with others, Plan International aims to amplify its voice and achieve a greater, more sustainable impact for children and girls worldwide.
